Call for abstracts
Legitimation of Violence
A conference organized by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, University of Pardubice
September 14-15, 2023, Pardubice, Czech Republic
Abstract
The conference will discuss both historical and current strategies of legitimizing (physical and symbolical) violence mainly from philosophical and religious, but also political, sociological and other perspectives. We are looking for papers focusing on both specific cases of violence, historical and contemporary, and philosophical reflections of concepts, terminology, and methods of studying violence and its ideological legitimation. Scholars from various fields of humanities and social sciences are welcome, including but not limited to philosophy, religious studies, sociology, anthropology, history and political science.

Practicalities
If you are interested in participation, send us an abstract (300 - 500 words) by April 30, 2023. All abstracts should be send to matej.cibik@upce.cz and anonymized for the purpose of evaluation. You will receive a responce by the end of May 2023.
